Ruined castle, mostly 15thC, first prison of Mary Queen of Scots. Hilltop site with fabulous views. Attractive village noted for crystal glass making. Costumed Tudor guides show the restored Mary Queen of Scots Privvy Garden, also the large herbery, all in rare Tudor raised trays and boxes. The Great Hall has been opened and has been furnished in the Elizabethan style to celebrate the Millennium. There is a new tearoom, small museum, giftshop and children's play area.
